Brief description:
Imatinib induces complete cytogenetic response in the majority of patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic phase. However, a subgroup of patients doesn't respond to standard treatment with imatinib. Clinically, it would be advantageous to identify such patients in advance, since they may benefit from more aggressive therapy.
