I propose that the competent tax authority of the Ministry of Finance provide a tax number to a Slovenian citizen in the form of a laminated card (with or without an embedded chip for storing additional, state-relevant information about the taxpayer). The dimensions and design of the card in a typed form on which the TIN is optically visible (as well as in a form for the visually impaired and blind) and also in the form of a bar code could facilitate the daily use of the TIN in administrative and other procedures, even without the use of electronic means to read the TIN. We, the citizens of the Republic of Slovenia, have received our tax number on a sheet of paper, which is inconvenient and also of limited use value due to the limited durability of the paper and ink itself. I am aware of the fact that this is an unplanned budget item for the State, but I think that in the long term, the use of a laminated card with a tax number can simplify and speed up a large number of procedures or actions with State bodies and other entities (both economic and non-economic).
