Hello, I have recently returned to my native Slovenia after two years of gaining new work experience and expanding my knowledge abroad. I was abroad for the last two months without a driving licence due to the expiry of my driving licence (medical re-examination), but since I knew I was going back home soon I did not complicate things. When I returned home, I first registered my permanent address back in Slovenia, and at the same time I wanted to renew my driving licence, with a medical examination, but I got a shock at the UE. I have to have registered my permanent address in Slovenia for at least 6 months to renew my driving licence - both foreigners and citizens of the Republic of Slovenia. The deadline started on the day I registered my permanent address, which means I will be without a driving licence for a total of 8 months. As a citizen of Slovenia, I am completely shocked by the system I have experienced in my situation. The situation is very stressful for me at the moment, without a driving licence, with a car in the garage and living outside the city, especially in terms of finding a new job.
