A few months ago, we recruited a young single mother with two children who wanted a job and started working for us. After a week, when she had started to sort things out with the Social Work Centre, she came to us and told us that the job was doing her more harm than good. The salary she would have received for the simple work she did with us would have been around €750 net, and she would have lost over €500 in various social transfers (exemptions, subsidies, allowances, etc.). She stopped working.
