Technologically, the processes in our production plants dictate 24-hour production and therefore shift work. In our view, this is a situation of some absurdities or legal uncertainties, which, in addition to the bad will, also puts additional financial strain on our business. Shift work, where production takes place 24 hours a day, every day of the year, is quite present in Slovenia, but nowhere or in none of the legislation, be it in the area of labour relations or health legislation, does it mention this work. The four-shift work that takes place in our production plants takes place according to different schedules. The distribution of working time takes into account the legal provisions on the 40-hour working week, the daily and weekly rest periods. The monthly hour pools vary from month to month, and the difference in the pool compared to single-shift work is paid as overtime, which we consider unfair, as we respect both the daily and weekly quota of hours and, of course, all the aforementioned statutory rest periods. This is the nature of the work required by the technological process, not overtime. Proposal: In the process industry, where production takes place 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and where employers respect both the 40-hour working week and the statutory rest periods, the difference in the annual hours pool is paid as a regular work obligation and not as overtime.
