Dear Sir or Madam. I work for the police as a police officer - shift manager. In my work I deal with insurance companies several times a week. In this context, in order to settle claims, the insurance companies also want to obtain photographs from the police stations of accident sites or damage to vehicles, which are documented photographically by the police officers when dealing with a traffic accident. The photographs taken at the scene of the accident or damage to the vehicles are then transferred from the camera to the FIO's records under the number of the accident being dealt with by the police officers in the unit. The description of the accident itself is also entered in the FIO record under the accident number, which is electronically accessible to insurance companies, as well as to the Health Insurance Fund. Insurance companies can therefore electronically retrieve information on the description of the accident itself, but to my knowledge they cannot access the photographs of the accident, which are also entered in the FIO record. Insurance companies often write to us asking us to provide them with photographs of the accident scene or of the damage to the vehicles themselves. This leads to unnecessary administration, as it is necessary to produce photo albums for the insurance companies and send them either by ordinary mail or by e-mail. There are also problems with sending photographs by e-mail because of the size of the files that can be sent from the police server and it is often necessary to send such messages in two parts or even more. I therefore propose that insurers should also be given the possibility to automatically consult the photographs of road accidents that are entered in the FIO register under the individual accident number. This would relieve the burden on police officers who are in charge of drafting replies to insurance companies or preparing the relevant photo albums at individual police stations, and would also allow insurance companies to resolve claims much more quickly, as they would be able to automatically access the desired data (including photographs) to which they are otherwise entitled under the law itself. Regards.
