Certain types of vehicles have a component that, when used, can lead to a fatal accident. German manufacturers have recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles for this reason, many of them in Slovenia. A well-known French manufacturer, however, has carried out these replacements abroad, but not in Slovenia. I have already lodged a complaint with the Republican Market Inspectorate on 9 September 2013, together with evidence of the practices abroad. The Inspectorate consulted the importer (!?) and on 5.11.2013 issued an opinion that it had no jurisdiction over means of transport after 1.7.2011, forwarded our complaint to the Transport Inspectorate and referred us to civil proceedings. On 25.6.2014, after many urgencies, I received the position of the Transport Inspectorate. It states that it has no grounds for action in our case. So, in Slovenia, after a year, it is not even possible to find out who is responsible for the vital area of vehicle safety in public transport. To illustrate, in regulated countries, the manufacturer is obliged to inform the competent state office (in Germany, the KBA - Kraftfahrt Bundesamt) of the measures to be taken immediately after being informed of the possible consequences of defects in the components installed. In the present situation, I have therefore contacted a third inspectorate - the Public Sector Inspectorate of the Ministry of the Economy and Social Affairs (MJU), which acknowledged receipt of the item on 23 October 2014, but has not taken any action to date. In the meantime, there are thousands of vehicles on Slovenian roads, which can start at any moment or be left without traction when overtaking. We have, however, withdrawn from sale at the moment a certain type of roof rack that such vehicles could carry. And - because of the "danger" - we have also withdrawn a certain type of children's scooter...
