Why does Slovenia have an incomparably more complicated system than other EU countries for implementing Regulation 995/2010? Or why do we have such a complicated system of harvesting decisions, timber transport tickets, registration sheets and transport documents in our country that it is unworkable in practice? I propose that checks be launched on the import of illegally harvested timber into the EU and on the illegal trade in timber. Given that the owner cuts everything with decisions, as he is otherwise penalised, we do not need anything other than a decision for the owner. The transporters should write the number of the decision on the delivery note. Other EU countries have a similar system (where they do not have decisions).
