Slovenia has made significant progress in recent years in terms of separate collection and overall reduction of household waste. For some of us who previously thought about minimising waste, existing household containers are sometimes too big, as they are rarely filled between two empties. Moreover, it does not matter whether there are, say, only 2 or 4 people living in the house. Pets also "contribute" to some of the waste. I suggest that municipal companies start weighing containers when they are emptied and charge by volume instead of by number of collections (as is currently the case). This would give people an extra incentive to waste even less - especially if retailers also offer products with minimal packaging.
