I spend a lot of time on the road - on the motorway, to be precise. I see a lot of disrespect or arrogance from lorry drivers. They flout bans and speed limits. A good example of this is the ban on vehicles with tarpaulins and refrigerators driving in heavy winds on the Razdrto - Vipava route, or the ban on overtaking lorries on certain sections of the motorway between 2 pm and 5 pm.

I suggest:

- A speed limit for all goods vehicles of 80 km/h

- Banning HGVs from the leftmost lane of motorways and expressways - tougher penalties for offenders

- Strict penalties for overtaking in congestion and snow

- Introduction of checkpoints on the motorway network where checks on goods vehicles can be carried out (technical inspection of the vehicle, tachograph records, paperwork and the driver's physical condition)
