In response to the proposal to extend the time periods during which the overtaking ban applies to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on motorways, the Ministry of Infrastructure responds in reply No 010 - 22 / 2018 / 44 - 02121245 that the Government has been aware of the problem since 2007. It notes that overtaking by goods vehicles reduces the safety of motorway users and reduces traffic flow. It stresses that overtaking by goods vehicles cannot be banned completely. It notes that there are currently no plans to extend the time period of the overtaking ban for HGVs (over 7.5 tonnes). The Ministry recognises that there is a problem, but unfortunately does not offer a solution, so I am making a new proposal. Currently, the toll for goods vehicles is based on the distance travelled on the toll road, the number of axles of the vehicle and the EURO emission class of the vehicle (although you have already been warned by users of this portal about AdBlue fraud). I propose to introduce driving time as an additional criterion for the price of the toll. Such a measure would at least partially relieve the congestion on the motorways and increase the flow and safety of users. Is it really necessary for lorries to use the motorways at the busiest times of the day? I believe that a more expensive toll during the busiest times of the day is less of a threat to hauliers or the economy than relieving motorway congestion will be an advantage for other users.
