The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Slovenia receives millions of euros of "material aid" from the state budget every year, it receives tax breaks, and citizens pay taxes to cover even the contributions and pensions of its employees. This is not the case abroad. Even in Italy, they have a system similar to that in Germany, for example, where every citizen and immigrant immediately identifies himself as a religious denomination and pays a church tax. In this way, the faithful financially support their religious communities, including the RCC, which is the only fair way of financing them. Slovenia must also legislate on this. It is extremely unfair that all citizens of the Republic of Slovenia are obliged to support the RCC (and other religious communities), as this is the task of its (their) members. I ask for a transparent way of financing religious communities to be created, following the German example - a church tax to be paid exclusively by the members of individual churches and religious communities. Contributions should be paid to religious officials by their religious community, and this should also apply to the RCC. The state should not support religious communities financially. The only exception is the protection of immovable cultural heritage.
