If the insured person does not have the means to pay for the supplementary health insurance due to financial hardship ( no salary, too low a salary, single mother, etc.) and wants to take out supplementary health insurance, there is a waiting period of 3 months before he/she can claim for a health service. I propose that the law with the 3 month waiting period be changed so that if the insured person takes out a new supplementary health insurance and pays the premiums at least 3 months in advance, he/she can benefit from the date of payment of the premiums and claim the health service. The law says: Up to one year = waiting period. If you have not been supplementary insured for less than a year in total, you will only have to pay the premium for three months after you have re-joined the insurance and you will not receive any benefits from the EHIC during this period. So you will have to pay for the health services yourself for three months (the same as before you took out the insurance) (the so-called waiting period).
