Applications for social assistance should be revised, as people speculate and give up inheritances simply to avoid losing social assistance or being unable to receive it in the future because of the inheritance they have acquired. It should be stated on the application: Have you renounced your inheritance? YES NO Have you renounced an inheritance because of a residential easement, usufruct or use arrangement? YES NO If YES then the person cannot receive cash social assistance. The CSD has to check the truthfulness of the answers and by linking them to inheritance procedures, especially when they find out that the applicant's parents are deceased and they get information whether the person applying for social assistance has inherited or renounced an inheritance.
