I propose that for persons who are sentenced to longer prison sentences in Slovenian courts (I am thinking in particular of tycoons, etc.), but are unable to serve them due to health problems, age, etc., and at the same time the amount of the prison sentence itself makes it impossible to impose alternative measures, that instead of serving a prison sentence in one of the Slovenian prisons, a HOME PRISON should be established. The legislation already allows for house arrest. The legislator should, however, provide for house arrest for those persons. The sentence is served in the convicted person's own home, with control exercised by police officers from the regional police station and by Ministry of Justice employees. The benefits and everything else should be the same as in a real prison, and a good part of the legislation on house arrest can be applied. In the case of visits, medical examinations, etc., the person under house arrest should be assigned an educator from the nearest regional penitentiary institution; escorts should be provided by judicial police officers or, in the most urgent cases, by police officers. The house arrest regime itself should be as similar as possible to a real prison. Only in this way will we be able to claim that we do not have double standards for ours and yours, for the deserving and the less deserving, for those who might yet speak or those who remain silent.
