I propose to introduce compulsory renewal - validation of driving licences every four years. Renewal should be free of charge or for a nominal fee. Why? Over a period of time, a lot changes in traffic (there are quite a few of us who obtained our driving licence decades ago, there were no roundabouts then, traffic was less, etc.). So it would be very welcome if, once in a while, the holder of a driving licence had to validate his/her licence by attending a training seminar to introduce new developments in traffic, to inform the participants about the road traffic rules, to show a film about the consequences of dangerous driving, etc. I think that the biggest reason for traffic accidents on Slovenian roads is that many drivers think they know how to drive or operate a vehicle, but in reality, they don't know why it is wise to buckle up, they have no idea about reaction times and think they can drive through residential areas at more than 50 km/h, most of them don't even know how to hold the steering wheel properly, how to put on a seat, etc. So such a measure would certainly increase road safety, while at the same time significantly reducing the number of unnecessary accidents.
