I propose a change to the luxury tax, especially in the part relating to cars. The current luxury tax works on the principle of engine capacity, where all engines or cars with a capacity of more than 4 000 cc are considered luxury. Here, we need to revise the definition of luxury, because if we take the example of newer cars, the owner of a new Ford Mustang with an engine capacity of 4998 cc has to pay almost 10 000 in luxury tax on a car that otherwise costs as much as the average BMW 3 Series with a few extras. While the owner of an Audi Q7, with a 3998 cc TDI engine costing well over 70000 euroriv, pays nothing. Similarly, owners of Porsches, most of which have a displacement of 3200 cc, pay nothing in luxury tax. And we all know that they cost well over 120000 euros. The definition of luxury should be changed so that it is based on the price of the car and not on the capacity of the engine.
