I propose to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to immediately stop all activities related to the law under which you want to tax the properties we live in and to abolish the law on compensation for the use of building land (NUSZ). You have neither the legal basis nor the moral right to either of these laws. We have paid a fair price for the land on which our homes stand and have paid taxes on these transactions. The municipalities have charged us a municipal contribution for the utilities. A percentage of the contributions we pay on our monthly personal income goes to the municipalities in which we live, which also pay for the upkeep of the municipal infrastructure. There is no reason to pay an additional tax on privately owned land. In the construction of real estate - our homes - we have paid tax on every brick and every contractor, all as it should be. Most of those of us who did not steal gave up holidays for years and spent every penny on building our homes. There are not a few who have not managed to complete this project during their active working life. And there are not a few people who are still drowning in credit because they rolled up their sleeves rather than ask the state for help. You are now going to punish all these people with a tax that many will not be able to pay, because you have so shamefully reduced full-payment pensions that they are barely out of line with the level of social assistance and are not even enough for a decent living. On the other hand, all those who have opted for rented housing and lived their lives without giving up anything will escape this tax. If they need help, they will seek it and get it from the state nursery, and the state will be able to wipe its nose for repayments. That is why the law you are drafting is discriminatory and therefore probably also unconstitutional. In a good quarter of a century as an independent state, a vampire government has sold us out, allowed our jobs to be stolen and trampled the dignity of its citizens into the ground. Now you are preparing the legal basis for one last grand theft. You want to seize homes for which a good part of the financially decimated citizens will not be able to pay the unfair tax obligations envisaged. Do not do this. Thank you. PS: how Europe and the world regulates this area is completely irrelevant to any answer you might give. No one is telling us how to regulate it at home.
