I suggest that all vehicles must have their rear position lights on, even in daylight. Most new vehicles that have so-called LED daytime running lights at the front have no position lights at the rear. This is because the rear position lights are only switched on by the driver, and only the front daytime running lights are switched on when the vehicle is started, leaving the rear of the vehicle unlit. In the event of fog, spray and similar low visibility situations, such vehicles are not easily visible from the rear and the possibility of a rear-end collision is therefore increased. I believe that a significant number of drivers of these vehicles are not even aware that their vehicle is unlit at the rear. This would increase road safety when driving in poor conditions.
