I propose to equalise excise duties on gas oil and petrol. By significantly lowering excise duties on diesel fuel, you are encouraging the purchase of diesel-powered cars, even though it is public knowledge and evidence that diesel engines pollute the environment significantly more (with dust particles, Nox and, last but not least, CO2) and, particularly in urban centres, cause, among other things, cancer in the population. It is for this reason that diesel cars have already been banned in many cities around the world, while in our country you are encouraging their use by means of more favourable excise duties. You are also putting hybrid vehicles at a competitive disadvantage, as well as plug-in hybrid vehicles, which have been proven to contribute to cleaner air and are, in almost all cases, a combination of an electric and a petrol engine rather than a diesel engine. If, apart from the Ecofair, you are not already giving incentives for the electrification of the vehicle fleet, please at least do not encourage the population to buy dangerous, noisy and environmentally unfriendly diesel vehicles. Plug-in hybrids are just a step between conventional combustion vehicles and full electrification, so it would be great if you encouraged their purchase, or at least did not destimulate it with drastically cheaper but harmful diesels. Thank you. PS: If any of you have ever been to Dubai, for example, you will have found that the air along the roads is much better, even though the traffic density is incomparably higher. And they don't even have hybrids there to make it even better. The better air, and the better environment for the ear, is because they do not have diesel-powered cars. Here, however, the large number of diesel cars on the side of a busy road makes the air quality significantly worse at first sight (inhalation) and has been proven to be extremely harmful to health.
