Proposal: Consider restrictions on all road categories. Signs are outdated and show the same limit in good weather, in rain, in snow and in fog. Where the limit is 50, it is set to the lowest value and it is fine when it is raining. But when the weather is fine it is inappropriate and the speed limit could be 70 in many places. Vehicles are much safer today, both actively and passively, than they were 30 years ago, when signs were put up on the roads, and most of them still have the same numbers. Yet this will be a problem - motorways where it is known that speed cameras will be placed - pr: tunnels. It is safe to drive at 120 without any problems. But drivers are still obliged to adjust their speed to lower values than allowed depending on the situation. Then what will happen is that everyone will be forced to drive hard - at 100 and for longer, and there will be traffic jams - bottlenecks - the famous phenomenon of the surge, where for some reason, without accidents, traffic jams of several kilometres are created. The result will be that everyone - mostly in very good vehicles - will then accelerate, try to make up for lost time and drive nervously (psychological factor too) and overtake others. So the danger should be increasing, not decreasing. The state will be losing money - financially - instead of profiting - insurance companies will be spitting out a lot of money for damages and medical treatment, disability and the rest, instead of keeping it in its own pocket. Mostly everybody will talk about driving culture and wise up all sorts of ways about speed, but there are other important factors - drivers and their psychology, but also the technology in which we are so heavily involved. The state and municipalities should also fund or introduce these as a matter of priority. "Green Wave in all major cities by modernising the switching on and off of traffic lights. No funding is actually needed for this, because it has been happening in Maribor - the red wave - in the same way for decades. So fix the way the lights are switched on and off in the right way, and relax the driving temperature or the tension of the drivers. I was driving in one metropolitan city at 60 and, believe it or not, I drove through the biggest crowds from one part of the city to another - all 11 km of it in 6-7-8 min. Without stopping at a single traffic light. This was on the main streets of course. In Maribor, for much smaller distances you need 10-15 min of nervous driving. Every traffic light is yours -red light?! PS. Recently I was photographed by a radar on the motorway, where the limit is set to 60 because of road works and this at a rest area (Zima) I was driving a little less than 100. According to the law. It's just that this radar didn't image the circumstances - none in front of me 200m, none behind me 500m, no lorries at the lay-by where I always look, no vehicles pulling out from here. For the odd and unnecessary 60, in my case it was €160/80 but in the light of the previous proposal and description - a questionable road sign and - at the expense of the state in the long run.
