I propose that flashing green lights be introduced on traffic lights where the speed limit exceeds 50 km/h. I was in Budapest a while ago, where the green light flashes 3 times before the orange light comes on. The flashing green light is a real "balm" for the driver, as it gives him enough time to decide whether to slow down or speed up and go through the green/orange light. But here, by removing the flashing green light, we have created tension for drivers because we have 2 options: either brake wildly or go through the amber/red light. We need to be aware that on roads where the speed is above 50 km/h, the driver has less time to think and if we introduced the flashing green light we would have enough time to make the right decision and less stress.
