I propose to the Government to allocate sufficient money in the budget to repair the destroyed roads as soon as possible, preferably this year. In many places, the roads are completely ruined, often, in addition to the age-related deterioration, also because of through freight traffic, as drivers try to save money in this way - e.g. the Postojna-Koper&Sežana section, where trucks leave the road in Postojna or Senožeče and continue their journey on the old road, which is therefore worse than a cart track in some places. Those few shovels of asphalt do not do the trick. Or, for example, the road through the Vrem valley. The inhabitants of these and similar places all over Slovenia, forgotten by all, pay for the roads, but at the same time they are forced to destroy their cars on potholed roads. Not to mention the dilapidated bridges all over Slovenia, which were reported in the media a few months ago. And the list goes on. Destroyed roads are also dangerous - for example, a chassis component can be damaged, a tyre punctured, etc. Avoiding potholes can also lead to a collision. Car owners pay motor vehicle tax when they buy their cars, and then every year when they register them, plus tax and excise duty on fuel and all servicing of their cars, etc., etc. The specific nature of scattered populated Slovenia is such that people from smaller towns cannot use public transport, because in many places there is none. That is also why it would be good to have properly maintained and safe roads. In short, I suggest to the Government that it should make an investment programme as soon as possible to rehabilitate the destroyed roads and prevent further damage to its taxpayers.
