I propose that a weekly 36-hour working day be introduced in special working environments such as the Department of Pathology, which includes the cytology and histology laboratories, to be considered full time for all employees in the department, regardless of the amount of time the employee is exposed to harmful substances (alcohols, acids, lye, Xylenes, Formalin,....) and in which section of the department he or she is working. In fact, in Official Gazette No 67 /2012 of 31.8.2012, there is an interpretation of the Collective Agreement Commission, where it describes that the employee must carry out these activities for the major part of his working time. If the employee is at the job for 8 hours/day, he/she is still doing the job for the whole of his/her working time, not for the majority of it, with the exception of his/her snack time. Other workers in the department, with a different profile, are equally exposed, whether or not they perform tasks in the laboratories, as they are in the same room all the time.
