I propose that the Government - Ministry of Finance, in its search for new budgetary resources, consider the possibility of introducing a tax - an excise duty - on nuclear fuel. A similar tax was introduced by the FRG on 01.01.2011 with a deadline of 31.12.2016, as can be seen on the German Customs website: www.zoll.de/DE/Fachthemen/Steuern/Verbrauchsteuern/Kernbrennstoffe/ker... I am of the opinion that a similar tax could also be introduced in Slovenia for the following reasons: - half of the excise duty would be paid by the Rs through the price of electricity. Croatia - HEP ( Croatian Electroprivreda ) as half owner of the power plant and recipient of the electricity produced in NEK , - nuclear fuel is an energy product, most energy products are subject to excise duty and environmental taxes ( CO2 - tax ) , - nuclear fuel is burnt in Slovenia and therefore there is no possibility of recovering excise duty on export, sale and supply of electricity produced with nuclear energy abroad, - in this way the Government of the Republic of Slovenia would secure an additional budgetary resource.
