There are far too many people in Slovenia who are unjustifiably receiving either social assistance or unemployment benefits. People are receiving cash benefits, and they are also working illegally or on foreign student assignments. Since inspection is clearly ineffective, perhaps we should consider the idea of citizens themselves monitoring such violations and reporting cases to the inspection services. I suggest that the government introduce rewards to be awarded to individuals who reveal cases of unjustified receipt of social or unemployment assistance. A lump sum of, say, €100 for each case where the state has deprived an individual of the right to social assistance or unemployment benefits in cases where the individual has been in breach. I believe that this would resolve many cases where individuals are currently receiving various benefits unjustifiably at the expense of all taxpayers. In any case, we would save a lot of money and reward people who would help to bring more order to this area in our country.
