I propose to the Government of Slovenia to bring BUREAU BACK into the framework of the health budget. This is the amount of € 507,12 which is intended to co-finance the funeral of the deceased. The amount does not even cover the cost of a funeral, let alone a traditional one, but it was a great help to the relatives of the deceased in paying for the funeral.
We must be aware that we have a population of people over 80 who are no longer able to insure themselves for this type of risk with Slovenian insurance companies. Also, a few years ago, our insurance companies did not even cover this type of risk (funeral expenses!).
I therefore propose that every insured person, irrespective of age and state of health, should be offered this type of insurance for a symbolic extra charge on the basic premium, e.g. €2 per month. Under these conditions, it is possible to join the insurance once in a lifetime. If the insured person withdraws from this insurance, he/she may no longer join it. This also prevents possible abuses on the one hand and shows a certain degree of solidarity on the other. An income census is far from being a true picture of the individual and family's material circumstances.
Some time ago, I heard a story about a deceased man who had been lying in the cellar of his home for two days. So that was the first of the month and with it a new pension, which was earmarked for the funeral. I think no comment is necessary.
