I propose that the government introduce a ban on speed bumps in the legislation and the gradual removal of those already in place. In particular, sub-standard barriers that are too high and barriers that are not densely placed should be removed as soon as possible. I note that there are many artificial speed humps in Slovenia (and especially in Ljubljana). I have not seen so many of them anywhere in the world. It is left to the initiative of local communities to erect them. With too many humps, all drivers (not just poachers) are destroying cars. The bumps destroy shock absorbers even if you drive 10km/hour over them, not to mention the over-high bumps on which many vehicles skid. Low and long cars, articulated buses, cargo vehicles are particularly affected. The humps cause great inconvenience to patients, disabled people, parents with small children. They also slow down emergency vehicles; firefighters, ambulances, etc. At key locations, the humps would be replaced by video surveillance (radars) and warning signs. This would also slow down traffic and avoid the problems listed above. Only drivers who are not in good faith would be penalised. The eventual fines would fill the budget, allow preventive actions and finance further replacements of the CCTV humps.
