In Slovenia, most protection and rescue tasks are carried out by firefighters. Except in some major cities (where professional units are organised), this task is carried out by VOLUNTEER firefighters. What is needed before a volunteer firefighter goes to a fire, traffic accident, etc. with a fire engine is, of course, unknown to many. This includes, of course, the journey that a volunteer firefighter makes in his/her own vehicle. The specific proposal concerns an amendment to the Road Traffic Safety Act which would properly define and mark the vehicles and the journeys of volunteer firefighters, mountain rescuers, etc. to an intervention. I am not, of course, referring to the use of blue lights on private vehicles, but to a similar solution as implemented by countries whose emergency and rescue services are based on voluntary work. As an example, I give the solution from Germany, where a fireman, when driving from home, work, etc. to a fire house, places an appropriate marking on the roof of the vehicle and thus, to a certain extent, draws the attention of road users to himself. http://www.feuerwehr-verden.de/images/dachaufsetzerneu.jpg
