Dear Sir or Madam, I read again today in Delo about the system to prevent oncoming traffic on motorways. According to the Part's report, the only such system is in place at the toll station in Vransko, and it includes a camera and a flashing signal at the end, but the road closure is still arranged by the operator. The cost of the system itself is reported by labour to be 35,000 euro. This raises the question of what is wrong with the installation of spikes in the canal across the entire access lane, which are spring-loaded and always outside. If the vehicle runs over them from the right side, they are released into the channel, otherwise they puncture the tyres of the vehicle. This forces the vehicle to stop before entering the motorway. It is true that in this case the vehicle would remain on the carriageway or the connecting lane and cause congestion. Which could be cleared relatively quickly. The cost of the whole system should not exceed about 2000e and the system does not need much maintenance as it is entirely mechanical. The installation of the system itself could be carried out by DARS itself as part of the maintenance. The solution can be fully developed in Slovenia.
