CRISIS TAXES should be paid by TAJKUNI and all those WHO CANNOT EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN OF PROPERTY! The poor can no longer bear the additional tax burden; this is supposedly clear. Wages are already overtaxed. They will kill two birds with one stone: - justice will be done - the country will no longer have a budget deficit problem, guaranteed. The crisis tax should be paid by those who brought us into this crisis. 1) It should be paid by the tycoons, the big landlords and the other privileged; all those who have benefited from the process of privatisation of social property and restitution of assets. 2) It should be paid by all those who cannot explain the origin of their assets. **************** Ad 1) The following categories of the population in Slovenia should be taxed: - Owners of companies who have benefited from ownership through management buy-outs; even if they have already sold ownership stakes and may have invested the money in foreign banks. They did not care about the companies. Companies were destroyed, workers were sacked, land was sold. They are the ones to blame for everything going downhill; for workers being worse off than after the Second World War. They have robbed the young of their future. They have only looked after their own offspring; and they have looked after it very well. - The owners of the property they have acquired in the process of restitution from their deceased ancestors. Hand on heart; the fairest thing would have been for no one to have got anything, because new injustices were happening along the way; some got a lot back and others got nothing. Now they are not even working the land. Some shrewd lawyers have also profited handsomely. Half of the territory of Prekmurje is now to be given back to the elderly daughter of a former mayor. I would be interested to know who is going to cultivate this land. What irrational laws were passed by our first Peterlet Government that now give us a headache. No wonder the country is impoverished if it has had to pay back so much compensation. The fairest thing would be for the crisis tax to be the difference between the market value and the value paid by the privileged. Ad 2) Anyone who has more property than he has been able to earn in his lifetime and save has acquired it illegally. Clearly, inheritances and gifts must be taken into account. Anyone who has earned money illegally must pay evaded VAT (or sales tax) and income tax. If he has stolen, he has to face criminal proceedings anyway. ************ The public authorities have all the necessary information on citizens' official income (salaries, allowances, inheritances, gifts, etc.). I trust the Tax Administration of the Republic of Slovenia to calculate and collect the tax professionally. Those who will not be able to pay the tax in cash should pay it in the assets they have in abundance. In this way, the country will strengthen itself materially. It will be able to rent out these properties to citizens at favourable prices.
