In order to reduce the shadow economy, tax evasion and the like, I propose to allow private financial (tax) inspectors to operate. They could range from ordinary inspectors to real financial experts. Their remit would then range from reporting non-payment of invoices to detecting falsification of books of account. All the evaded tax that the State recovers through them would be retained by them, and they would receive all the fines provided for the offences detected. They would not cost the State, or us taxpayers, a single euro, because they would be financed by the fines, and the budget would only benefit with every euro of evaded tax recovered. And so do we.
