Due to the increasing incidence of medical errors and the number of lawsuits filed against doctors in Slovenian courts in recent years, I demand that an Independent Medical Audit Commission be established to review the work of doctors over the last 4-5 years. With special emphasis on the work of traumatologists at the KC LJ Urgent Care Centre and other Urgent Care Centres in the Republic of Slovenia. The situation that has prevailed in recent years is unsustainable, mainly because the Medical Chamber has not been doing its job as it should for a long time. The situation of poor, negligent, unprofessional work by doctors is dominated by the so-called 'hypocritical guild collegiality syndrome', which is the main culprit in the fact that doctors who do a poor job cannot be proven guilty. Part of what protects these irresponsible and negligent doctors is the health care system in the Republic of Slovenia itself. This is because the system "transforms" the personal professional mistakes and poor work of doctors into "systemic failures of healthcare", thus absolving them of responsibility. If we add to this a judiciary that is not immune from corruption and which, with its slow procedures, only fuels the indifference of the perpetrators from the ranks of the medical profession, then we arrive at the situation we have. Not to mention the system of 'reinsurance' of doctors' work and the 'specific spread' between medical institutions and insurance companies, which could be a story in itself. So, as soon as possible, set up/form a medical commission with powers to put order not only in the KCLJ Emergency Room but also everywhere else where it is needed. It is the last minutes. The formation of such a commission requires accountability to the victims who have been subjected to medical (or health care if you will) errors that have scarred their lives as well as the lives of their immediate family.
