My concrete proposal to the government is to introduce a FAT tax, or in politically correct terms, a tax on excess BMI. The measure itself would certainly bring about considerable savings in the health budget, because excess weight has been shown to be linked to many chronic and other medical conditions, such as diabetes, heart attacks, vascular clogging, high cholesterol, etc. In this case, just as in the case of smoking-related diseases, it is all taxpayers who are paying for the treatment, but why, I wonder? Of course, anyone who is overweight as a result of some other medical condition, e.g. a malfunctioning thyroid gland, etc., would be exempt from the legal obligation. In addition, this would mean significantly more investment in recreational facilities, sports clubs and, at the same time, we would be one of the few countries that actively cares for the health of the people who make up its population.
