The government's new proposal to tax rental income uniformly at 25%, taking into account only 10% of normalised costs, seems to me to be excessive. Those of us who rent and pay taxes regularly will get our butts kicked again. Those who rent illegally do not really care what the government proposes, because they pay nothing. Does the state or the proposer even realise what costs are involved in maintaining a property that is being rented out, as most tenants take practically no care, security deposits are practically no longer paid, and recovering compensation for damage caused is more of an exception than a coincidence in our legal system. For the Government's consideration: I know of a case where a partner lost her job to a friend. Previously, they each had their own flat and rented one out. Now that person's only income is from renting out the property. Under the existing law she paid 25% tax on 60% of the total rent, but when she reported the matter to the income tax she got a lot back as the tax base was taxed at 16%. Under the new proposal, however, such income will no longer go into the income tax base and 90% of the rent will be taxed at 25%. So the state is taking more than two and a half months rent from you. Proposal to the Government and the Ministry of Finance. With a tax policy in this area, the government should "incentivise" landlords to register their lettings so that they can collect more tax. And for those who rent illegally, introduce strict penalties. This proposal will tighten the noose around the neck of those who pay.
