I propose to introduce a tax on plastic packaging for all products that could have different packaging. However, the tax should be at least 200% higher on plastics that cannot be recycled. This would reduce the amount of plastic waste and increase the amount of separated and collected plastic waste for recycling.
It is absurd that every product, however small, is packed in large plastic containers. Often there is far more plastic than the product itself. We also need to reduce the amount of water in plastic bottles, as this is harmful to the environment and also to health, because plastic slowly migrates chemical components into food.
In particular, we should ban containers and funeral candle sleeves made of non-recyclable plastic, as there is an abundance of this in Slovenia.
It is time to introduce an ecological tax not only on waste but also on products, because products are the main cause of waste.
I believe that this idea could also be taken to the EU.
