I am proposing to the Government a change in the property market. There are a lot of empty new and older flats. I propose that anyone who owns more than one flat or house that has not been sold or rented out for more than a year should be assessed for a dadat tax. In this way, there would be greater transparency over real estate and the black market in renting out flats or houses would be reduced. There are a lot of flats being rented out illegally, especially in Ljubljana. This would allow the state to collect more taxes and would either force the owners of the properties to sell or rent them out. As a result, the price of housing would fall, as would rents.
