Dear Government, According to the data on the price structure of motor fuels published by Petrol on its website, the excise duty on diesel is significantly lower than the excise duty on unleaded petrol. I certainly understand the lower excise duty on autogas, which is one of the alternative and significantly cleaner motor fuels. However, the difference in the level of excise duty between diesel and unleaded petrol is, in my opinion, completely irrelevant and is the result of the government's pandering to the powerful motor transport lobbies, which are demanding cheaper fuel in this way. Given that it has been made clear on several occasions that Slovenia's strategy is to migrate freight traffic from the roads to the rail infrastructure, price equalisation could significantly speed up this process, as the use of rail would be more efficient for hauliers, and would also increase the safety and fluidity of Slovenia's roads. Therefore, as I said, I propose to equalise excise duties on the two most sold fuels.
