Let's fix the system! Elections, new government, new ministers, new system.... "At last, it's time!" my colleagues and I said together. We work in the public administration, in education, more specifically in educational institutions - kindergartens, as assistant teachers. We love our work, but for a long time now, the difference in the valuation of the work of a teacher and an assistant teacher in a department has been a motivating factor in our work. Anyone who has ever been in a kindergarten knows that there are two people in a classroom with children, working together, doing activities together, planning activities together, having meetings with parents together.... Of course, there are also differences between them. One of these differences is the title, there is also a difference in the level of education (educator - university degree, assistant educator - four-year secondary education), then there are differences in the workload (educator - 6 or 6.5 hours in a department, assistant educator - 7 or 7.5 hours in a department - although they both have a 40-hour week), and the biggest difference is in the valuation of the work - the salary. The differences are far too great, the difference in net pay is somewhere between 400/500 euro, which has become unacceptable. Somehow, we are failing to find that extra work of the teachers that is worth this difference in salary. We all work together, we attend professional training together, we plan and implement together, and it is true that they have had three more years of schooling, but that does not justify such a difference in the valuation of the work that we do together. Yes, there is a difference, but not 60%!!! At the same time, we are attending the same training courses that have given the teachers the flattering titles of mentor, advisor, and for us these training courses have given us new skills that we have then been able to implement together with the teacher in the department. All of these titles, which were easily obtained by all of them, are also paid monthly in personal income, regardless of whether they do any work as a mentor/consultant. Although promotions to grades are frozen, which we agree with, given the economic situation in the country, the grading of these grades already says a lot - for an assistant teacher, the grade is between 19 and 29, and for a diploma teacher, between 30 and 35. We do not want to create a negative climate, which is unfortunately present because of the unfair regulation, we want a fairer system, we want the disparities to be reduced! In the coming austerity measures, we would like to see this misguided system put back on a fairer track!!!
