For the sake of economy and respect for the citizens of Slovenia, the office of a Member of the European Parliament should be equated with employment. So: - an MP is nothing more than an ELECTOR OF THE PEOPLE FOR A PERIOD, doing a job on behalf of the electorate - and is therefore, by virtue of this, an employee FOR A PERIOD, on a full-time basis, for 8 hours. During these 8 hours he has to do his work, which includes meetings, appointments, commissions, visits to MPs' offices... - The salary should be fixed - at most 2x the average salary in the economy. If the average salary were to rise, it would only be good for their salaries. - Working hours are from 8am to 4pm (or whatever). During this time, he works all for a salary. - He is entitled to reimbursement of expenses just like other employees. For meals and transport to and from work just like other employed citizens - "if they don't know, the amounts are regularly published in the Official Gazette" :))) - At the end of his term of office, his contract for a DURABLE TIME expires and his rights as an ordinary citizen follow. This means no severance payments, allowances, etc. If he is good and is re-elected, his contract is extended again: If not, he goes straight to the institution with the compensation as laid down by law. Let the Members of Parliament also follow the law, just as the rest of us citizens must. They "write" them themselves. In this way, much, much money will be saved.... ______________________ PS: abroad, it is the case that politics is about who has the money. In our country, it is those who want to get money quickly and easily who go into politics.
