Dear Sir or Madam! I am writing to draw attention to what I consider to be an inefficient or unfair system of traffic fines. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for someone to pay a fine (e.g. for not wearing a seat belt, which is €120) who is paid the minimum wage and barely gets by from month to month. On the other hand, people on higher or almost fabulous salaries can "afford" it without any problems. I therefore propose that a progressive method of calculating traffic fines be adopted so that those on higher salaries also feel the penalty. This would be fair for all citizens, as everyone would pay the penalty equally, depending on their income. It is true that we can pay half the penalty within a certain time limit, but even that is difficult for some people. Why not take the side of those who have the least? Kind regards
