I propose that the government immediately closes all external, non-emergency construction sites across Slovenia for a month. Non-urgent construction sites are all residential, commercial and road non-urgent construction sites.
Only the urgent ones, which would last no more than a week, should be open. On these construction sites, wearing masks would be essential, distance would be essential, smoking, drinking and eating would be prohibited if a minimum distance of 2m cannot be guaranteed.
The construction sites are now exempt from all ordinances, recommendations and controls of the inspection services. The opinion of the Health Inspectorate is that construction sites are not public areas and that this is not their area.
On building or road construction sites, most workers commute to and from work in the same vehicle without masks, and on construction sites they generally do not wear masks, few under their chins. Workers on construction sites also smoke and eat without distance. These same workers are not all in single homes, they go to their own homes, they have families at home, children socialise with each other, wives if they go to work mostly do menial jobs in kitchens, as cleaners.... between blocks and in blocks they socialise.....
I think they are potential candidates for spreading infections in the workplace, even if they don't get sick themselves.
It was even worse when they were allowed to cross the border for 72 hours, and I hope that this measure will remain in place as long as people are dying in our country.
The state has closed kindergartens, schools with restrictions, banned many businesses from working: hairdressers, chiropodists, massage therapists, all non-food shops, dry cleaners, urban and long-distance transport, catering, .... other maintenance services in inhabited houses......construction has been thriving all the time, during the first epidemic, in between and now.
Solidarity with all of us and with our families would be to close down this activity, which is not in any way life-saving.
IF THE GOVERNMENT CARES ABOUT OUR LIVES, IT SHOULD CLOSE THE CONSTRUCTION SITES.
