Prologue: a police officer is on an equal footing with other "ordinary" citizens for all offences. However, if it is found that the procedure against him was defective or wrongly carried out (mitigation of punishment), all those who acted in this procedure are punished. Example: A police officer (off duty) drunkenly crashes into a police vehicle for speeding. Sanction: 6 months suspension (keep driving licence) PS: this policeman is still very often driving drunk and at excessive speeds through housing estates and elsewhere. The only thing he gets is a warning from the chief of his station. An ordinary "mortal" would have his licence taken away, hefty fines and much more. Do you think this is appropriate?
