Every time a storm hits, we hear reports of how many trees have fallen on buildings and vehicles in our settlements. These are usually older/tall trees that have been inadequately cared for in the past or have started to die due to the impact of the urban environment. An additional problem is that in reality "nobody is responsible" for urban trees: responsibility is often passed between the municipalities' utility companies and the Forest Inspectorate (whose focus is forests, especially economic forests). I therefore propose that responsibility for the management, professional care and removal of trees in urban areas be clarified in an appropriate legal act when trees endanger vehicles and buildings or may fall on traffic routes. It is unacceptable to see trees in settlements (often outside parks), which are many times taller than the surrounding buildings, in a state of extreme disrepair.
