When the vehicle is taken off the road, the owner of the vehicle is reimbursed a pro-rata share of the toll already paid and a pro-rata share of the vehicle's insurance.
I propose to the Government that all vehicle owners should receive a refund of a proportion of the vignette paid, as the vehicle will no longer be used in traffic after it has been deregistered.
Due to the crisis situation, more and more vehicle owners (both natural and legal) are opting to de-register their vehicles in order to save costs, including the cost of paying the vignette.
However, these owners would have to buy a new vignette when they re-register their vehicle.
The proposal should be dealt with in an accelerated procedure.
